SAP (Substance Abuse Professional) Services & DOT Services

SAP-certified clinician, providing Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) services specifically for individuals regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT). A SAP is a qualified professional trained to assess, evaluate, and provide guidance for individuals who have violated DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations.

SAP's main function is to protect the public interest in safety by professionally evaluating the employee and recommending appropriate education and/or treatment, follow-up tests, and continuing education.

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and recommendations to ensure clients meet DOT standards for workplace compliance or return-to-duty requirements.

  • Collaborating with employers, HR departments, or treatment programs when appropriate, while maintaining strict confidentiality and professional ethics.

DOT-regulated positions require employees to comply with federal drug and alcohol testing programs. My role as a SAP is to help clients understand these requirements, complete the necessary evaluations, and develop a plan for safe return to work, while supporting their overall wellness and personal growth.

Therapy for men involved in street culture and those working to break cycles of trauma and survival.

At Healing Body and Mind Therapy, LLC, we provide a safe, judgment-free space for men and young men impacted by street culture, community violence, and survival trauma. This work is rooted in understanding and real-life experience, helping men process pain, rebuild trust, and find new ways to cope, connect, and grow.

Whether you’re navigating loss, anger, or the pressure to stay strong while carrying heavy emotions, this is your space to heal and redefine what strength truly means.

Issues Addressed:

1. Trauma & Survival Mode

What it may feel like:

  • Always being on guard — like you can’t relax even in safe spaces.

  • Flashbacks, irritability, or shutting down when reminded of past events.

  • Feeling numb or disconnected, but still carrying the weight of what happened.

2. Anger & Impulse Control

What it may feel like:

  • Quick to snap or react — even when you don’t want to.

  • Feeling disrespected easily or misunderstood.

  • Regretting how you handled things but not knowing how to do it differently.

3. Anxiety & Constant Pressure

What it may feel like:

  • Overthinking and never feeling at peace.

  • Fear of letting your guard down or being judged.

  • Feeling like you always have to be “on” — for family, friends, or survival.

4. Depression & Emotional Exhaustion

What it may feel like:

  • Getting through the day but feeling empty or unmotivated.

  • Isolating yourself or losing interest in things you used to enjoy.

  • Struggling to find purpose beyond just “getting by.”

5. Grief & Loss

What it may feel like:

  • Losing friends or loved ones to violence, incarceration, or distance.

  • Feeling angry or numb instead of sad.

  • Believing you have to keep moving so you don’t fall apart.

6. Identity & Self-Worth

What it may feel like:

  • Wondering who you are outside of the street, your past, or your reputation.

  • Struggling with guilt or shame about past choices.

  • Wanting to change but not knowing where to start.

7. Relationship & Trust Challenges

What it may feel like:

  • Difficulty opening up to people — even those close to you.

  • Miscommunication, jealousy, or pulling away when things get real.

  • Wanting connection but fearing rejection or betrayal.

8. Breaking Cycles & Redefining Strength

What it may feel like:

  • Tired of repeating the same patterns but unsure how to stop.

  • Wanting more — stability, peace, purpose — but not seeing the path yet.

  • Knowing you’re capable of change, even if it’s hard to believe in it

How Therapy Helps:

Together, we’ll work on unpacking your experiences, building emotional awareness, and finding tools that actually fit your life — not textbook advice. You don’t have to heal alone or keep proving you’re strong.
